The history of the chocolate production in Russia began back in 1851 when German immigrant Teodore Ferdinand von Einem arrived in Moscow and opened a small confectionery shop on the Arbat which became flourished factory later. After the Revolution, the factory was seized by the government and renamed "Red October".

In general, many brands which were created in the Soviet Union are phenomenal. They survived through the difficult period of the country collapse and even thrived remaining popular and loved. The bright example of this is the confectionery industry. Many sweets are produced in the same design for several generations. "Alyonka", candies "Mishka na Severe" (Bear in the North), "Belochka" (Squirrel), Ptichye Moloko (Bird's Milk), "Miska Kosolapiy" and many others. These candies are the taste of childhood. One of the most recognizable candies “Mishka na Severe” by the confectionery factory named after N.K.Krupskaya were made during the World War II. They all went to the war line to maintain the morale of the soldiers. People bought the candies "Squirrel" by the piece and each candy was so desired. The candies "A Space Odyssey" were produced to commemorate Yuri Gagarin's first space flight. Today the famous Russian confectionery factories keep the traditions and make the hearts of millions of people tremble with joy.
